The Albuquerque community is in mourning following the tragic death of Donald Slydell, affectionately known as “Brotherchu,” who lost his life on March 11, 2025, due to a violent carjacking incident near Montgomery Park. He was just 27 years old.
Donald was a beloved content creator and a well-known figure in the local car and gaming communities. He gained significant recognition for his engaging TikTok presence as part of the Slydell family and for his YouTube channel, “Hershey505,” where he streamed a variety of games, including Dragon Ball Z, NBA, Tomb Raider, WWE, Monopoly, and GTA San Andreas. Although he had not been active on YouTube recently, his impact and influence in the online gaming community remained substantial.
In the early hours of March 11, tragedy struck when Donald was in a vehicle with his mother and sister, TophiaChu. A suspect, fleeing from a prior crash involving his Subaru, attempted to steal their car. In this horrifying confrontation, Donald was shot fatally, and his mother sustained critical injuries. The assailant fled with their vehicle, which later crashed into a Jeep. Fortunately, a nearby security guard intervened, shooting the suspect and bringing the violent scene to a close. Donald’s mother, now referred to as “Mamachu,” is reported to be in stable condition.
The news of Donald’s death has left a profound impact on his family, friends, and followers. His sister, Tophia, expressed her heartbreak and shock through an emotional Instagram story on the day of the incident. The local car community, where Donald was a respected member, has united in remembrance of him, sharing stories and tributes to celebrate his life.
Many fellow car enthusiasts and friends have taken to social media to honor his memory. Savannah Crystal Madrid shared her sorrow, saying, “I’m so sad to say that unfortunately I knew the guy. He was super nice. He and I shared a lot of good memories together. May you rest in peace, Donald Slydell.” Renchin Richie also paid tribute, stating, “Donald Slydell, you always showed nothing but love and respect to me since the day I met you. From the days of the old mutt when we would be street racing to you watching every live I would have out here in Texas, you always were a supporter. It’s not going to be the same not seeing your name pop up on the lives anymore…. You weren’t only a homie, but a brother and family to me. May your soul rest in peace, brother.” The New Mexico Motor Events Facebook page also honored Donald, expressing their sorrow: “In Memory of Our Fallen Community Members. We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of two members of our event family. We knew them only as friendly and fun participants who brought joy and positive energy to our gatherings. Their presence will be deeply missed.”
In light of Donald’s passing, the car community has initiated fundraising efforts to assist with his funeral expenses. A Facebook user, @CJ Russel, announced plans to sell custom Honda or Mustang symbols for $60, with all proceeds dedicated to covering Donald’s funeral costs.
Despite facing controversies and personal challenges, Donald Slydell was deeply cherished by those who knew him, both personally and through his online presence. His sudden and tragic passing has created a significant void in the hearts of his family, friends, and supporters, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and camaraderie that will not be forgotten.
